E-Bay is an excellent place for puchasing gold coins but there are things you should know to make sure that you are dealing with a reputable seller. Gold coin purchases usually involve large sums of money so you want to deal with someone you know and trust

Check Sellers Feedback Carefully

Make sure the seller has a track record of 200 or more sales

Feedback scores are calculated including all the things the seller has bought as well. This is important. You want to see at least 200 feedbacks from sales alone. Many sellers on E-Bay have more feedback from buying than from selling. Sometimes you can check the sellers buying records and even find out what they paid for the coin you are looking to buy! The bigger sellers will generally use separate E-Bay accounts for buying and selling.

Shipping charges are also important. E-Bay sellers charge shipping and handling fees that are all over the map. Personally if I am going to spend upwards of a thousand dollars for a coin I believe it should be shipped insured and with a tracking number. That protects both me and the seller. I would be willing to pay for this. Despite that I see a lot of expensive coins being sent through regular mail which is pretty scary. The buyer has no easy recourse if the coin goes missing especially if the seller does not subscribe to Pay-pal or its buyer protection.

The listings below are based on my personal research and does not imply these sellers are best. It simply is sharing information about gold coin buying that I have found on E-Bay. You can contribute to it as well. If you know of good sellers let me know so they can be added to the list. The listings are organized in descending order with the vendors who have the most sales on top. I look at seller feedbacks and buyer feedbacks closely. A good vendor will have many more seller feedbacks than their overall feedback number. That tells you they are doing a lot of repeat business. A good seller will also have a low number of buyer feedbacks. You dont want to buy from a seller who gets his high feedback number from primarily buyer feedbacks. Personally I like sellers who have physical stores and who provide all contact information, but that does not mean that the anonymous vendors are bad. There are hundreds of good sellers on E-Bay but I think this list represents some really good places to be buying gold coins from.
